Almost all styles of over-ear / on-ear headphones use some kind of headband. This fits over the top of your head to support the drivers & ear cups. Good headband design is essential for long-term listening comfort and headphone stability, especially when moving around or travelling. Remember too that all heads are different - what feels great to one person may well be uncomfortable for another - so we always advise to try before you buy, if possible.
Headbands are consumable items which wear out over time, not least because they flex and move whenever you put your headphones on, adjust their position, or remove them after listening.
