HiFi Rose RS150B High-Performance Network Player

NOTE: The RS150 by HiFi Rose is transitioning to a new name (RS150B) internationally. This is to correspond with a necessary part change brought about by the unfortunate AKM chip factory fire that occurred in 2020 and the corresponding effect it had upon global parts availability.

The original RS150 was built around the AK4499EQ chip, which is no longer widely available on the market. The new RS150B is instead built around the equally coveted ESS SABRE ES9038PRO. All other aspects of the original RS150 design remain unchanged, and the sonic signature is the same as originally intended.

The chip change does amend some specifications, updated as per the specs below, however the overall user experience remains unchanged.

Designed to deliver high-quality sound by acoustic engineers with 30 years of experience, RS150B is capable of clearly expressing the full frequency range from its grand and rich bass delivery through to the delicate, elegant highs. Its highly precise femto clock delivers superb stereoscopic, and distortion-free sound with quiet and clear background imaging. Integrated with the ESS Technology SABRE ES9038PRO DAC chip, the RS150B offers low noise, low distortion, ultra-high-resolution sound that still has a rich density and analogue feel with proprietary processing supporting up-to PCM 32-bit / 768 kHz and Native DSD512 (22.4 MHz).

A linear power supply results in the minimisation of noise inflow significantly, and the ideal circuit layout employed eliminates electrical noise, and creates dramatically improved sound quality without distortion.

ROSE OS was produced using the Android platform to deliver a first-class user experience. Whether accessed via the iOS or Android app, or through the built-in 14.9-inch touch-screen, ROSE OS gives, clear intuitive access to all aspects of the RS150B.

Play music and video files from a local storage device (USB, MicroSD or SATA), or access files elsewhere on your home network with a DLNA connection to any NAS drives or other storage devices.

The MUSIC app gives a clean presentation of all your connected music sources, and is easy to navigate and use. RS150B also features built-in apps for TIDAL and QOBUZ, giving complete access to their extensive high-performance streaming libraries. The TIDAL app provides access music video streaming for playback on the RS150 screen or via the HDMI output. The RS150B is also an MQA decoder, for full playback of Tidal Masters tracks.

The CD and CD RIPPING apps allow you to attach any standard external CD-ROM drive for convenient CD playback, or to rip CDs in highest-quality to any local storage device in a quick and intuitive way, all through the touch-screen interface.

The RADIO and PODCAST apps give you access to extensive live radio and podcast databases, while ROSE TUBE gives you access to YouTube for high-quality music and video playback.

ROSE OS also offers support for Roon Ready, Spotify Connect and AirPlay, effectively bringing your entire digital audio experience into one elegant product.

Your RS150B will also function as a complete digital hub and pre-amplifier, for a fully customised system set-up. With an extensive array of hardware inputs and outputs, most of which can be customised or adjusted to suit the exact environment, you can achieve greater control over your whole system than ever before.

There is also an option to connect to your network via Ethernet or WiFi. The included dongle also supports Bluetooth communication. The supplied Bluetooth remote control gives extensive control over most of the ROSE OS system.
